Dr. Višnja Vrdoljak

Višnja Vrdoljak received her Ph.D degree in Inorganic chemistry in 1996 from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. Following a post-doctoral Alpe-Adria fellowship at the University of Trieste, Department of Chemical Sciences in Italy, she joined the Faculty of Science at the University of Zagreb. In 2015 she was appointed to the position of professor at the Department of Chemistry. Her current research interests are focused on the synthesis of new ligands, the development of hybrid organic-inorganic polyoxometalate-based materials, metallosupramolecular architectures, and discrete coordination compounds of molybdenum, vanadium, and tungsten for applications in catalysis. Her interests also refer to the design, synthesis, and characterization of inorganic-organic hybrid materials intended for exhibiting a given property. Her interests additionally include studying the structure/property correlations. She has published 79 articles in peer-reviewed international scientific journals. Selected Institutional Responsibilities: Head of the Division of General and Inorganic Chemistry (2019-present), Chairperson of the Field Council for Natural Sciences of the University of Zagreb (2017-2019), Chairperson of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Faculty of Science (2016-2022); Member of Committee for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Science (2011-2014), ECTS coordinator of the Department of Chemistry (2011-2014), Deputy head of the Department of Chemistry (2011-2014).
